15th Oct. – 27th Oct.’12: Pradarshak presents - Abstract Paintings by Umesh Patil.
In our continuing effort to showcase
promising artistic talent, Pradrshak presents yet another upcoming artist Umesh
Patil.
With a diploma in Fine Art from the L. S.
Raheja School of Art, Umesh has gradually grown from his textural and
colour-juxtaposed compositions to a maturity in technique, approach and
rendering.
. |
This is the artist’s debut solo standing
in his professional arena. He works on a series titled “Golden Glow”, which is
referenced from his current state of mind. “Working in the abstract genre, I
don’t really know where I begin and where I am headed; until that one moment
that takes possession of me and urges me to stop; stand back and rejoice in my
creation”, he explains.
His palette tends to veer towards the
vibrant – mainly reds, oranges and yellows; here he has used hues of gold in
the entire series, commemorating the title with a matter-of-fact statement that
affirms his ‘good times in life’.
. |
The application is predominantly knife
and roller based with very little use of brushwork. This is the first time that
Umesh has given vent to his emotions in the confident strokes of the palette
knife and merged his wandering musings through gentle swishes of the roller.
The show is a must see.
