18th Jan – 30th Jan.’16: Pradarshak presents “Las Impresiones (The Impressions)” - Solo Exhibition of Graphic Prints by Tapan Madkikar
Knowing that the slightest error in the process of transferring a visual
from a substrate on to paper means an entire re-working, Tapan diligently
visualises the various stages of his creation prior to starting on his work,
his judgement precision-driven, his technique thorough.
A decade into this medium of expression, Tapan gives vent to
impressionist facial expressions as much as he tries to portray social and
cultural issues. The realism in his graphics – woodcuts, linocuts, etchings...
is palpable; the ethos well rendered, and the essence, so-to-say, the soul of the
emotion being channelized, is communicable... tangible!

The artist plays with form and ranges his works from small
miniature-sized expressions to large canvases. His current showing at the
ongoing 2nd International Macau Print Triennial Exhibition
(December 2015- February 2016) stands testimony to the artist’s prowess in his
chosen medium.
Tapan lives and works in Mumbai.
