Dec.’11: Pradarshak
presents solo exhibition of realistic figurative paintings in acrylic on canvas
by Deepak Garud
Deepak Garud hails from Nasik. He has passed his Govt. Diploma in
Art (G D Art) and Art Teachers Diploma (ATD) from Nasik Kala Niketan.
Deepak is
a simple man with his heart firmly entrenched in village life. Born and brought
up in the pilgrim city of Nasik, the artist is deeply impacted by Indian
festivals, traditions, folk art and artistes, and rural lifestyle.
Naturally, the joie de vivre and the
candid simplicity that generally characterizes rural lifestyle fill his
canvases. The artist infuses his paintings with a rhythmic touch with a marked
focus on facial expression, active body movements and lots of colour. Such elements add a touch of
timeless appeal to his paintings.
In addition to being a painter, Deepak is also a set
designer and Make-up artist. He has been actively involved
with the Experimental Marathi Theatre scenario in Nasik and has
earned several accolades for his work.
