20th
Oct.- 1st Nov.’14: Pradarshak presents Dual
Exhibition of Paper Collages by Shantanu Kirane & Santosh Kumar Sharma
Collages
need not just be scraps of paper cuttings synchronized to form an image. A
collage can be approached in various formats and our dual show here illustrates
this beautifully. Santosh Kumar Sharma has been a senior artist with the Central Institute of Fisheries Education, Mumbai and been illustrating
various books for them, besides pursuing his passion for art through collages. Naturally,
the beauty that he sees day in and day out in the amazingly colourful
underwater world has been his deep inspiration as well as his artistic muse.

Shantanu Kirane
has also been fascinated by art works from paper. But with a twist. He
painstakingly makes paper rolls of various sizes – thick, long, short… and then
begins his journey of fashioning these rolls into artistic interludes with an
imagery that borders on – at times a definitive landscape or narrative; while
at others, pure compositional beauty. Shantanu goes a step further – he
explores the paper rolls even in circular forms; thus, widening the horizon of
his creative play.

The exhibition is simple in format; rich in
creativity. It successfully brings into the limelight two veteran artists, who
have quietly pursued their passion and their vocation in an exercise of
self-gratification. Through this representation, they share their repertoire
with the world.
