May – 4th June 2016: Pradarshak presents Debut Solo Exhibition of Paintings by Deepa Hekre
Cognizant
of the innate qualities of a woman, artist Deepa Hekre finds her solace in
depicting the woman at the core of all else around her. This debutante artist from Nashik draws
strength from patience, perseverance, persistence and the evergreen vigour of
womanhood that transcends all worldly pleasures and problems alike.
Brandishing
the brush and roller, her canvases come alive in one series after another, each
work anointed by the glow of primary colours, portraying the woman in all her
glory. In this, her debut solo outing, Deepa focuses on inner peace that is the
secret of a serene visage.
While
the larger part of the canvas is devoted to the expressive facial contours, the
remaining is oft anointed with the lotus flower as a symbol of peace. Deepa
draws from everything beautiful in nature and is quick to point out that the
colour brown and its many hues are perhaps the only colours that she
consciously keeps away from.
Vibrancy
is introduced via primary colours as the paintings depict fluidity and textural
nuances, augmented by an innate piousness that candidly comes through in each
of her works.
