24th Sept. - 5th Oct. 2018: Pradarshak presents ‘Roots’ Mix medium paintings by Venus Sanghvi
An abstractionist with an invigorated view to life and living, Venus is uninhibited in her use of hues as she layers her paintings with intonations of the bygone, the present and the hopeful future. Her work reflects the language of colours along with the scripts of AUM, as the two elements merge and fuse to become one holistic unit.

“The process I engage in for mark making and altering the surfaces are score, incise, type, print, paint, write, draw, burn, etch, stencil, stamp etc., and the materials I integrate are metal, paper, wood, heat, sindoor, ink, soot, etc.” she informs.
A confluence of elements in her paintings offers a visual meditation of the energies, thoughts, feelings, and culture. Shapes and structures begin to take form, which she reflects through the layers of paint, drippings, brushstrokes etc. Her brush strokes are inspired from the studies of John Sargent’s masterpieces during her master’s degree. Her paintings come alive as an interplay of layers, where colours are the energies, and thick and thin brush strokes and textures express her interaction with the immediate environment and her inner core.

The
paintings express the semantic of harmony, veiled or unveiled, in the
esoteric layers of colours, scripts and textures to form rhythmic
patterns and designs. As Venus concludes, “In essence, my paintings are
cue for our wonderful origin, the delicate fragility of that gentle
existence.”
